Back in June Uber launched a promotion where new members can sign up for Uber and receive a free ride up to $30. Prior to this it used to be $10 in credits, so clearly a free ride up to $30 was much better for most. Well, on November 23, the free ride offer is changing and it is dropping down to a free ride up to $20 (no longer $30).
While the email I received is vague, I interpret it to be that you must take your ride by November 23 for the $30 maximum to apply. Even if you sign up prior to this date but take your free ride post November 23, it will be maxed out at $20. However, if you’ve received any referral credits from signing up your friends, those credits will still keep the $30 value until they expire (6 months after they are earned).
New User Promotion:
- Through November 23, sign up for Uber through a referral link. They just upped the promotion to 1 free ride up to $30. You can sign up using my Uber referral link, or get a friend to refer you – just do not miss out on the free credit money. This is only valid for those who sign up in the US and the credit will only work for rides in the US as well.
Amex Sync Uber promotion:
- Through December 31, 2014, you can get a $10 statement credit after spending $10 or more on an Uber. So if you take a $10 Uber, your ride is free! This is available to new and existing customers! Related blog post.
I’ve written about Uber before (plenty I know, and I am sure some of you are sick of it, but…) Uber is an “On-demand car service that allows everyone to have a private driver experience through iPhone, SMS, and web based requests.” In many cities Uber is actually less expensive than a yellow cab! Your credit card is stored in your account so there is no exchange of money at the end of the ride. Additionally, tip is included and no cash or credit card is needed – everything is linked to your account. The cars are also extremely new/clean, and the company will even text you with the drivers name for extra security.
Enjoy your Uber deal and discounted taxi/car service!
