Potentially Better Offer for The Business Gold Rewards Card® from American Express OPEN

This post may contain affiliate links from our advertising partners. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here. Additionally, some of the offers on this page may no longer be available through Deals We Like.

UPDATE: This offer has expired.

I just checked out what was going on the miles and points world (been sick in bed all day) and see that there is potentially a better offer out there for 75,000 point offer when applying for The Business Gold Rewards Card® from American Express OPEN. Just recently, they upped the offer to a steady 50,000 points, so if you are able to get the 75k point offer it is clearly much better (and the best we’ve seen over the past few years, although typically when present has a much higher minimum spend requirement).

American Express is still running the two promotions, one for 50,000 points and one for 75,000 points. When you click on the link you will see which one applies for you. Note that a different browser or computer might come up with a different offer, so feel free to check a few so you can apply for the best available offer out there. I personally do not know how long the 75,000 point offer will last. This is a legit offer and if you apply through the 75,000 point link and you are approved you will receive the 75k points after meeting the minimum spend requirements ($5,000 within the first three months). However, if you application page shows a 50,000 point offer you will only receive the 50,000 points after meeting the same minimum spend requirements, so make sure to apply with the correct offer landing page. Keep in mind though that similar to all of the other offers for this specific card the terms and conditions do state that this offer is NOT available to those that have had this product or any other Business Gold, Green or Platinum Card® within the last 12 months. This does NOT exclude those who have an American Express personal Gold, Green, or Platinum Card.

I personally wasn’t able to originally get the 75,000 point offer to work on Chrome (the browser I typically use), but was able to see it on IE, Safari, and Firefox. Another computer in my household, however, able to pull up the 75,000 point offer on Chrome. If you aren’t seeing the offer and interested, open up a private browser window or try a different browser – that should work.

Unfortunately, many readers have tried to send Amex a secure message to see if they’d bump up their 50k offer since they just recently applied for the 50k offer, and no luck. It still doesn’t hurt to try, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up. You can send American Express a private message (you must sign into your Amex account for this) and let them know that you just applied and now see there is a better offer available, and give them offer code A3Y5. Worth a try.

Thanks to The Points Guy for spotting this update!

Just FYI I already emailed Amex asking if they would honor this offer since I got my Biz card 3 weeks ago. They said absolutely not! 🙁

I have an Amex business card as an extra cardholder on my husband’s business. If I try to do one for myself, am I disqualified? Is it ANY business card, regardless of whether or not I am the primary and/or business?

@Cecilia -Yes, if you are not the primarily cardholder you should be able to apply for the card yourself. The only risk you face is the potential for getting a financial review from Amex since you will be a secondary and primary card holder.
