UPDATE: This offer has expired.
Starting last week, September 16, 2013, those with the American Express Business Gold Rewards Credit Card will now receive 2x points on “U.S. purchases made directly from select computer hardware, software, and cloud computing providers.” For those who are looking to purchase the new iPhone, Apple is on the vendors list. Or if you are looking to get anything from the Apple store you’ll get twice the points by using this card!
While Apple is not the only vendor, it is probably the one visited most. Other vendors include: CDW, Dell, HP, IBM, Intuit, Lenovo, Microsoft, Newegg, Oracle, Rack Space, Sage Software, Salesforce.com, Symantec, and Tiger Direct.
For those that put in the time and effort for free-after-rebate deals, Newegg is another vendor to keep an eye on. Newegg often has free-after-rebate items where you can now double dip with your 2x points per dollar spent and the additional amount received by going through one of the online shopping portals. While this can take effort, it can be a great way to rack up some free points.
This card also gives 3x points on airfare, 2x points on purchases in the U.S. for advertising in select media, gasoline at U.S. stand-alone stations, and shipping, and 1x point on all other purchases. I personally would opt to buy a new computer from Staples, Office Max, or Office Depot getting 5x points with the Chase Ink Plus or Chase Ink Bold credit card, but not all products (like the iPhone) are available at these office supply stores. While I am glad American Express is adding a new benefit to the card, there is still some better competition out their with Chase!

I last cancelled this card in Nov 2012. Yesterday I received an invitation in the mail from Amex to apply and nowhere did it say anything about previous applications. What do you think I should do?
@Maury – typically with Amex it is 12 months, but read the fine print and if it doesn’t say anything you should be okay
