This is my third post about the Amex Express Checkout promotion and I wanted to share with you all my great success! Here are the first two posts to fully understand the promotion: Free $10 Gift Card to Many Merchants for American Express Card Members! and Making Money with Amex Express Checkout!
Quick Recap of the Promotion:
American Express just introduced a new payment option which is available at select retailers online. All you do is select the Amex Express Checkout option, sign into your American Express.com account, pick the card you want to pay with and viola, all your details are uploaded into the checkout system and you do not need to manually enter any information.
To introduce this new feature, American Express will give you a $10 statement credit just for using it through September 7, 2015. This will give you one $10 statement credit per merchant per credit card! There are 11 participating merchants which means you can get up to $110 statement credits per credit card. And if you have multiple Amex credit cards times that by the amount of cards you have (although some merchants are better than others)! Only cards that are in your AmericanExpress.com account can be used (therefore, third party cards like Bloomingdales and prepaid cards like Target REDCard are not eligible).

My Success:
Thus far, I’ve made the following purchases:
- Newegg.com: $10 gift card
- Ticketmaster.com: $1 concert ticket
- Sabon.com: $10 gift card
At all three merchants I’ve receive the $10 statement credit! This means I ended up with a FREE $10 Home Depot gift card from Newegg, a $9 profit due to my Ticketmaster purchase, and a FREE $10 Sabon gift card. I’ve made these purchases on all 8 of my Amex credit cards and have received the statement credit on all cards.
Taking advantage of the promotion per merchant
As I mentioned, you can take advantage of this offer once per merchant. I’ve gone through every merchant and have detailed out the best way to maximize:
BarkBox: No inexpensive options. Only good if you were thinking about making a purchase from BarkBox anyways.
Burberry: No inexpensive options. Only good if you were thinking about making a purchase from Burberry anyways. They do sell $50 gift cards (the lowest denomination option), so you can purchase that to trigger the $10 statement credit.
Laithwaite’s Wine: No inexpensive options. Only good if you were thinking about making a wine purchase anyways. There is a link for gift card purchases but it has said none available since this offer appeared.
Ledbury: Currently Ledbury gift cards are only available in $50 denominations. Hopefully the lower level amount will re-appear at some point before the promotion ends. There are no inexpensive items on the site.
Newegg: You have three options: 1) Purchase an item you were going to purchase anyways and receive the $10 statement credit. 2) Purchase a $10 gift card to MANY merchants (i.e., Home Depot, Gap, Kmart, Groupon, Cheesecake Factory, Chili’s, CVS, Sports Authority, etc.) and receive the $10 statement credit – this option gives you a FREE $10 gift card ultimately. You can purchase a gift card here. 3) Find the cheapest item (many are downloadable codes) which allows you to make about a $9.50 profit. You can search for the cheap (sub $1) codes here.
Sabon: Purchase a $10 gift card and receive a $10 statement credit – ultimately giving you a $10 gift card for FREE! You can then use compiled gift cards to make a larger purchase on the site. Also, make sure to join the Sabon Club to earn 1 point for every $10 purchase (which equals an extra dollar!).
Ticketmaster: Find a cheap event to trigger the $10 statement credit. These options are constantly changing, but right now on Dan’s Deals he writes about a $5.20 child’s ticket. This means you are making a profit of $4.80. New ticket options are always appearing as well.
Virgin Wines: No inexpensive options. Only good if you were thinking about making a wine purchase anyways. There is a link for gift card purchases but it has said none available since this offer appeared.
WarbyParker: No inexpensive options. Only good if you were thinking about making a purchase from Burberry anyways. They do sell $50 gift cards (the lowest denomination option), so you can purchase that to trigger the $10 statement credit.
The Wall Street Journal: No money making opportunities, just a good way to save money if you are looking to subscribe or already subscribe. Although back in May they had an option to pay just $2 for a 2 month subscription. You could then cancel the subscription when the two months was over. If this type of sale comes again, this means you can make $8 per Amex card. I’ll be sure to let you all know if something like this appears again. Right now the current special is 12 weeks for $12. That means you can get 3 months of the WSJ for just $2 if you desire – just make sure to cancel afterwards!

Overall…
There are definitely some merchants available where you can get free items or make some money! I highly suggest taking advantage of Newegg, Ticketmaster, and Sabon at the minimum.

Any additional information about your $1 Ticketmaster concert ticket?
@Andrew – They are not available anymore. But it worked for me!
Ticket master seems to have taken Amex checkout for low donations off of their page. They still have a childs ticket for 5.10 leaving a 4.90 profit. I saw a con session stand ticket sold for 0.00 with a process fee of 3.30. I believe that left a profit for 6.70.

Sabon doesn’t seem to have $10 gc anymore. How did you get yours?
@emile – They had them available when I purchased them a few days back. I believe they were available yesterday as well so this might be something where they come and go based on availability.

Did you end up buying electronics at newegg for all your 8 amex cards? Because going a gift card route causes order cancellation due to newegg’s 48 hours restriction.
Big deal! You wait 48 hours between purchases or are you so impatient that you can’t do that?
After all, the promotion is good thru 9/7/15, I believe.
You likely will run out of cards before the end of the promotion.

Its per type of gift card. In my case i ordered one for cvs, home depot and footlocker. Then i waited 48 hours to order those again.

WSJ can be useful wrt getting miles. There are a number of portals like AA, SW and UA that offer a significant number of miles for a subscription.
Help – what am I doing wrong? Only my business amex cards come up at checkout. That leaves more than half of my amex cards unused. Any idea?

Getting the WSJ through the AA portal will give you 1700 miles which means you get 12 weeks of the WSJ and 1700 miles for $2…..excellent deal. If you prefer, united will give you 1000 miles and topcashback will give you $10. ($8 profit)
WSJ wine is currently offering 12 bottles of really great wine + a cool corkscrew set for $90 shipped. It would be $80 after the offer, plus you get 7 miles/$ when you buy through the AA portal.

@ft5309a – Yes. Although you need to manually add the card to your account. Near the picture of all your cards in your AmericanExpress.com account there is an option that says “More Cards”. That will allow you to add the authorized users card.
