This is a reminder that you have one week left to book your low level British Airways awards before the points increase significantly. As I wrote about back in October, British Airways is making a MASSIVE change to how you can redeem your Avios points. As of today, flights less than 650 miles one-way can be redeemed for just 4,500 Avois points one-way. Starting on February 3, 2016, those same flights will go up to 7,500 points one way! Ultimately, they are getting rid of the low level 4,500 point award chart and all flights less then 1,151 miles will cost the same 7,500 points.

For those looking to travel within the US – these points can be used on partner American Airlines. Some examples include: JFK/LGA to Toronto or Montreal, JFK to Boston, Miami to Bahamas, Miami to Cancun, Charlotte to New Orleans, Washington DC to Chicago. Of course there are many more examples!

Remember, you have until February 2, 2016 to book any of these short-haul flights! This has been quite an amazing deal in the points and miles world. While I am sad to see the award chart changing, I am happy that I’ve been able to take advantage of these flights a handful of times. All points booked over the next week for dates post February 3 will still hold onto the low level 4,500 point redemption!

Where will you be booking over the next week?

I am planning on booking Seattle to Calgary for a weekend away. Just need to call in since the flight is through Alaska Airlines.
