For those that have a Discover credit card, you can receive $15 off at Amazon when purchasing at least $15. To receive the $15 in free items, you’ll just need to select products shipped and sold by AmazonĀ (third party purchases unfortunately will not qualify). You also will need to pay for part of your order with Discover points, but the beauty of this is that you only need to redeem 1 point to qualify!
Also, only those that have never used the Discover Cashback Bonus are eligible, but sometimes involving customer service can help as they might be able to manually credit the $15 back to your Amazon account. This promotion actually runs throughĀ December 31, 2016!
How to take advantage of this promotion:
- Link your eligible DiscoverĀ to your Amazon.com account here.
- Shop at Amazon.com and add $15 worth of products (which must be sold and shipped by Amazon.com) to your Shopping card. Many merchant gift cards work as well, so you can go ahead andĀ search for merchant gift cards here.
- On the payment page, select your DiscoverĀ credit card that was just linked. Select āChoose a different amountā and enter the number of points you want to use towards your purchase. Since I do not like redeeming my points at Amazon (due to the low redemption value), I suggest entering just 1 cent which means 1 point will be applied. For the promotion to apply, the minimum amount required is only 1 point!
- On the check out page, enter the promotion code DISC16EVER.
- You will see the $5 taken off on the right-hand side displaying your total amount.
For those that are eligible, enjoy your $15 free at Amazon!

You said “I do not like redeeming my points at Amazon (due to the low redemption value)”, so what is a good redemption value then?
I think it’s because if you pay with Discover normally, you’d get 1% cashback (or 5%). If you pay with points, you get nothing. It’s more worth it to pay with Discover, then pay your statement with points.
I added my discover cars to my acct a good week ago. When I try to make a purchase pay with points is not an option. Any suggestions?
Linked Chase UR in past and got promo then.
Linked Discover today and promo code did not work. Called in twice. First rep said the promo does not exist and hung up on me. Called back and second rep more helpful. After 15 minutes she could not figure out why code did not work either, and got approval to apply a $15 courtesy credit to my account.
Didn’t work for me either. I chatted with them. They said to try again in 72 hours. I’m shocked Amazon service is catching up to a federal agency website. Might not renew my Prime membership.
Tried as well, with no success. Never had a single issue with promotions in the past.
You should really add that this is only for Prime members so it’s not a misleading title.
I linked my card through the Discover Card site on my phone and then logged onto Amazon on the computer, used my reward points from Discover (which was a measly $2.78 since I rarely use it), and put in the code provided above (DISC16EVER). Worked like a charm: $15 dollars off. (I am an Amazon Prime customer.)
Is this deal dead ?
I am a Prime Member and just added my discover card.
The I added an item in Amazon and clicked pay 0.01 with discover points and the rest with Gift Card and on the final page I put the promo code DISC16EVER
I am getting the error message “The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.”
same for me
Same for me
It displayed the error for me too, but above it in small print there was a checkbox that said “Use $15 dollar promotion credit” Looks like the error is incorrectly displayed, at least in my case. Definitely just worked for me!
As a Prime member I don’t understand why I don’t qualify for this and discounts. It’s frustrating. Please explain why. Does this mean I have to go shop elsewhere to find the better prices now thank you Randy Nelson
Items must be Sold by:Amazon.com LLC to qualify. You’ll just have to look at your cart to see who is the real vendor.
There are so many items that are just fulfilled by Amazon.com, but not sold by Amazon.com.
