During my recent trip to Thailand I received an unsolicited email from a blog reader giving me an entire run-down on Bangkok, included local restaurants, activities, things to know, etc. This was more of a “off the beaten path” guide and not necessarily the stuff you’ll find in Lonely Planet. This email was amazing and really provided some great recommendations as she currently lived in Bangkok. THANK YOU MEGAN!
When researching for my trip I read many blogs (of course!) but they all focused on the hotel, and not necessarily the local flare and activities/restaurants outside of the hotel. This email and the lack of information out there got me thinking and made me realize what wonderful suggestions my blog readers have on several destinations. While I would love to visit each and every destination on my own and provide a fabulous trip review, I unfortunately do not have the time.
So this is where I am soliciting you… my blog readers. Every week I will put together a recommended trip guide about a certain destination or region. This will consolidate all the recommendations I receive from you. I am really excited about this new series and hoping it can help you all with future trips!
My request: Please email me at dealswelike@gmail.com about a destination where you can provide some insight, including any and all activities, restaurants, excursions, tips, etc. You can also comment on this post.
But remember, I need your help! Thanks!

I’d love to see that email and those recommendations for Bangkok! Perhaps it could be posted, with permission?
@Brooks – Bangkok will be my first destination post.
@dealswelike – could you please post the Bangkok insights? thanks
Would be happy to contribute restaurant recommendations!
@sara – thanks! Looking forward to that 🙂
I’m happy to help with the Washington, DC/Arlington, VA area. I’m putting together something similar for guests at my wedding in June so this will be the perfect excuse to cross it off the list early!
@Rachel – that would be amazing, thanks!!
Ouch. Just back from Bangkok and bet that email would have been helpful. Any interest in tips about my hometown, Nantucket?
@Acker – that would be great! Thanks!
Wouldn’t it be easier to just give all of us Megan’s email address??? ONLY KIDDING!
@Steve – Even better, I will summarize her thoughts/recommendations and include mine as well.
I could use some insider tips for Rome, Florence, Venice and Guayquil and Cuenca. I can give some on Chile!
I am headed to Paris and Rome for 25th wedding anniversary trip in March. Doing all planning on my own, so all tips and suggestions would be great! thinking of either of these?
@Carol – Would love to include these city pairs, just need some more recommendations from my readers!
We’re heading to Bangkok and Koh Samui in June, please post Bangkok!
Carol, I just returned from Paris today! You must go to Chez Josephine Dumont in the 6th district for the beef bourguignon! We ate there last night and it was out of this world! The artichokes in butter sauce and pigeon were also fantastic! Make a reservation though.
@Rebecca – Thanks for sharing! Any other Paris info would be much appreciated as well! Sounds like you has a great trip.
