Canopy is one of Hilton’s newest brands with only three hotels currently in their portfolio – Reykjavik City Centre, Washington, DC at The Wharf, and North Bethesda. There is a good chance you probably have not yet heard of this brand and might not even know it is within the Hilton umbrella. Fortunately though, they are adding a dozen or so Canopy properties within the next year so there will be more options to stay with them!

The Canopy properties are positioning themselves to be a lifestyle hotel. The hotels include local choices, including furniture, food, signature drinks, and trying to really immerse themselves in the neighborhoods they are in. They are open and have a very comfortable and friendly feel to them. There are many lounge areas to hang out, sit, have a drink, talk to a friend, etc.  a sign on a brick building

While I did not actually stay at this hotel, I was able to get a behind the scenes tour from the manager during myHilton media visit a few weeks back. I did, however, spend a good amount of time at this property to get a good feel for the Canopy brand.

Four of my favorite components at Canopy properties include:

  • Complimentary bikes for all guests
  • Complimentary artisanal breakfast in their face and if you are in a rush you can instead request a “goody bag” of the breakfast to be delivered to your room!
  • A local welcoming gift – I received a delicious piece of chocolate which is always a nice little touch
  • Evening tasting of local drinks

And this is for every guest! No status needed!

A cozy lounge to hang out, do work, meet friends or colleagues.

The hotel rooms were also well thought out – every room has a “canopy” bed where they differ by hotel to represent a local feel. They also use local art, maps, and design elements. a bed and a chair in a room

And instead of giving out slippers, they give you some pretty cool bright orange Canopy socks! Yours to keep.two orange socks with black text on them

The Warf property has a pretty awesome roof top bar with an amazing view of the waterfront. And for those aviation lovers, the plane sighting was phenomenal. a bar with glasses on top of it

For those who have never stayed at a Canopy property, I suggest checking them out! I personally cannot wait to actually stay at a Canopy property and experience it first hand.

There’s also a Canopy in uptown Dallas. I lived in the building next door for years until the construction of the joint Canopy and apartment building blocked the great downtown views from my pool.

Just got back from a 2 night stay at the Canopy in Bethesda MD. Really enjoyed my time. Shower was great and Nespresso machine was a nice touch. Like the concept of a European breakfast but the quality fell a bit short.
