Save Yourself $125
This means, you have today and tomorrow to apply to be locked into the “better” annual fee and save yourself $125. If you’ve been on the fence about applying for the card, this could be the motivating factor. There are also many benefits that come along with the card and are well worth it, but definitely make more sense with the current annual fee. Some of the card benefits include:
Free night award
This particular card will give you a free night to use annually, but capped at a hotel costing up to 35,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. For me personally, I have always been able to get a decent value for my free night certificates making the annual fee well worth it. Right now I am actually thinking about using this certificate at the Renaissance in Aruba which during Christmas week is well over $400/night. I’ll gladly pay the annual fee on the card to save myself $400.
Silver status
Just having this card will give you complimentary Bonvoy Silver Elite status. Plus, you can earn Gold Elite status after making $35,000 in eligible purchases on your card in a calendar year. I personally do not put much value on Silver status (although something is better than nothing), and I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to spend that much on the card simply for Gold status. Definitely not a reason to get the card, but an added perk.
Value of 100,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points
I know many folks have said goodbye to Marriott as they’ve been “Bonvoyed” one too many times, but if you are still looking to earning their points, 100k points could definitely help you stay at some top notch properties. Also, if you are still thinking in terms of Starwood, this is worth approximately 33,333 SPG points.
Marriott Bonvoy points are typically worth about a penny a point, so 100k points is worth around $1,000. With 100k points, you could stay two nights at the Marriott Aruba (50k a night) or even three nights at the Renaissance Aruba (35k a night). And remember, when you use your Marriott points your 5th night is free, so definitely staying 5 nights will allow you to stretch your points further.

Is it accurate that Marriott Biz is not subject to 5/24?
@Jay – Since this is an Amex card, it is not subject to Chase’s “5/24” rule. And since it is a business card it will not currently count against your “5/24” count when you go to apply for another Chase card.
Are you able to clarify the eligibility rules?
— If you have received a Marriott AmEx bonus in the past, is another bonus unavailable for the rebranded Bonvoy card?
–If you have received a Marriott AmEx bonus for one business, are you eligible for another bonus for a rebranded Bonvoy account for a second business?
–If you have received Marriott AmEx bonus for a business, are you eligible for another bonus for a personal account for the rebranded Bonvoy card?
–If you have relied a Marriott AmEx bonus for a personal account, are you eligible for another bonus for a rebranded Bonvoy business account?
@Mary – Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Hopefully these answers will help:
1. This card was formally known as the “Starwood Preferred Guest Business Credit Card from American Express”. If you’ve received the welcome offer for this card in the past, then unfortunately you will not be eligible for the Marriott Bonvoy Business credit card. However, if it was a different Starwood Amex card, then you are still eligible.
2. Most reports show that you will not get the sign up bonus again even if applying under a different business name/EIN.
3. Which personal cards are you referring to? The Amex cards or the Chase cards?
4. All cards are considered separate products, so if you’ve received a bonus for an Amex Marriott personal card, you are still eligible for an Amex Marriott business card.
If you switch to the new card, do you lose your one year free hotel anniversary night on the ‘old’ version of the card?
So is tonight 3/27/19 the last night to get it, or will be available 3/28?
@craig – tonight’s the night.
