Hyatt was pretty late to the game with announcing a promotion for 2013, but luckily they came through and one will start March 1. Although they announced the promotion terms a few weeks ago, today (February 15th) is the first day to register.
Promotion Dates: March 1 – May 31, 2013
Promotion Bonus:
- Earn 3,000 Hyatt Gold Passport® bonus points after every three eligible nights, up to 45,000 bonus points
- If you have a Hyatt credit card you’ll receive a 20% bonus, so every 3 nights will ultimately earn you 3,600 points
Registration Dates: Must register by April 30, 2013
Other Info: Only paid nights count which earn points/stays – this means free nights using points do not count as well as those via third party booking, friends and family rate, etc.
My Thoughts: While I’m glad to see Hyatt finally offering some sort of promotion, I personally do not love promo’s that only give bonus points in X number of night increments – in this case in increments of 3. It also is only giving 1,000 points per night essentially which is relatively low compared to past Hyatt promos, although it seems as this is turning into the new trend. The times of seeing free nights after two stays is long over, unfortunately. Essentially 45,000 bonus points will give you two free nights at a top top hotel, which is great, but it will take 45 nights to earn this, which is A LOT of nights! If you are already staying at Hyatt hotels then I’ll take free points any day, but this is by no means a mattress run promotion.

Hi “If you have a Hyatt credit card you’ll receive a 20% bonus, so every 3 nights will ultimately earn you 3,600 points”. I don’t see that in the official promo. If I pay my bill with my Hyatt card I know I get 3x for each dollar spent but how does that increase the bonus too? Thanks.
We ll see what Hilton comes up with after the current double your hhonors promotion is over on march 31. But i am not too impressed by thus one from Hyatt so far.
