Later this fall, Hilton will be introducing a new brand under their current umbrella. “Tru” hotels will be a mid-scale hotel where prices will typically range between $90 and $100 a night. The design of these 100+ hotels will be modern and sleek and will target those in their twenties and thirties.
All Tru hotels will be either new construction or re-branding of an existing Hilton property. The new brand will include complimentary breakfast as well as free coffee and tea throughout the day. There will also be a common space area which will allow you to gather with friends, family members, and co-workers. This area will include large TVs and fun activities such as ping pong and foosball tables. Think Aloft hotels.
Some other differences with the actual hotel room is that they will be on the smaller size. While all rooms will either have a king or 2 queen beds, there will be no closets or desks. Bathrooms will also only contain a shower (no bathtubs).
I personally am a fan of this concept. You’ll know exactly what you are getting when you stay at these hotels. For me, these hotels seem perfect for the business traveler or a quick stay where you won’t be in the room much (airport hotel, road trip, exploring a random city, etc.). While there most likely be no upgrades, you’ll receive free breakfast, free WiFi, and will pay a reasonable room rate.

Is there any word on how these hotels will be categorized? If they are going to be true “value” brands I would hope most of them would be Category 1 or (maybe) Category 2.
To me – that would be their primary value as there are currently so few opportunities to just get a simple night on points without draining my account.
