InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) just announced their next promotion, called “Accelerate” which will run between September 1 and December 31, 2105. This promotion will allow you to earn around 50,000 bonus points when completing various tasks.
Like most other IHG promotions, the number of points you can earn is targeted per account. That means this promotion will be better for some than others. Although, to earn the maximum number of points, it will require a decent number of stays. You can see your targeted offer and register for the promotion here.
My personal offer looked like this:
Remember, some “tasks” overlap, so one stay might check multiple boxes. For example, one of my options is to stay 2 nights at the Venetian or the Palazzo. This will earn me 5,000 points, but also completes the “Stay Once Get 5,000″offer and “Spend on your IHG Rewards Club Credit Card” offer. So that means that one stay could net you 11,500 points.
Also, if I complete 5 out of the 7 offers, I’ll receive an additional 23,600 points. For whatever reason I only have 6 offers listed (not 7), so I am not sure when this will be fixed. With the current offers, with just 8 nights (and not being in Las Vegas) I can earn 45,000 bonus points by completing the following:
- 1st paid night = 6,500 bonus points (Stay Once Get 5,000 + Spend on your IHG Rewards Club Credit Card)
- 2nd, 3rd, 4th paid nights = an additional 4,500 bonus points (Book with IHG.com)
- 5th paid night = an additional 6,800 bonus points (Stay More, Earn More)
- 6th, 7th, 8th Cash + Points nights = an additional 3,600 points (Stay for Less and Earn) + an additional 23,600 points for completing the 5 offers.
Personally, I will not be taking advantage of this promotion. I personally do not have any planned stays during this time. Maybe I’ll end up with 1 paid night which will net me 6,500 points, but I am not going out of my way to maximize on this offer. Most of my hotel nights between now and the end of the year are already booked, although you never know what might pop up.
Anyone else targeted for another offer?

My offer shows almost 100,000 in bonus points for completing 7 of 7 offers, but I only have a legitimate chance at earning about 30,000 points on 4 out of the 7 offers.
Hello:
You noted that “Remember, some “tasks” overlap, so one stay might check multiple boxes.” Can anyone confirm this (i.e., whether you get all the points for the “tasks” that overlaps)? Thank you
@Joe – Yes you do. That has been the case for all similar IHG promotions.
On mine, the T&C for the points and cash task says that the P&C offer is not combinable.
@MJ – The points and cash offer requires you to use points + cash, while many of the other offers required a paid stay so they will not overlap.
My offer is like yours with a few differences. For staying at 4 brands, I get 25600 points instead of your 4500 points. Instead of a 2-night stay in Vegas for 5000, I have stay twice at Holiday Inn for 8000. But my bonus for completing 5 of 6 is 1600 points less than yours. Total possible is 72500. My travel has completely tanked this year and I have had only 4 IHG nights so far.
I got stay twice for a free night, stay twice more for another free night. I’m an existing IHG member, Spire elite status, IHG credit card holder.
Are we sure that the free nights are usable at any IHG property?
There might be a way to stay four times at really cheap properties then pick up two free nights to use at really nice ones.
@gavinmac – that is a great offer! when I was eligible for a similar offer last winter I stayed at four cheap properties to earn three free nights where I redeemed for much more value then I paid.
