American Express just announced that Amex Platinum cardmembers will be receiving additional benefits this June. Both the personal, business, and corporate versions of the Platinum card will receive:
- Boingo Wireless – This will give you unlimited access to these WiFi hotpot locations. You can read more about what is included here. Boingo typically charges $59/month for this access (but I personally wouldn’t place such a high value on it).
- TSA PreCheck – Statement credit for applying to this program. This typically costs $85, but Amex will only reimburse you for Global Entry OR TSA PreCheck. And since Amex already reimburses the $100 application fee for Global Entry (which automatically gives you access to TSA PreCheck), this isn’t a huge perk. With TSA PreCheck you still need to go to an enrollment center, so I suggest still applying for Global Entry instead.
While neither of these perks would change my views on whether or not the Platinum card is worth it (you can read more about that here), I always like to see additional benefits added to credit cards!
You can also read about the new American Express Platinum offer that was just announced last week.
Thanks to The Points Guy for letting me know of this new perk!

Hmmm – I wonder if billing GoGo to your Boingo would result in free GoGo usage? I think AMEX at one time included up to 10 GoGo sessions a year, would to see that!
The PreCheck credit is useless because I have GE.
