This is a reminder that today, June 15, 2017, is the last day to take advantage of the 25% bonus when transferring your hotel points to American Airline AAdvantage miles. This is a great opportunity for a few select hotel transfers or to get rid of some orphaned hotel points that you have no use for. This promotion applies to the following hotel transfers with the conversion rate below:
**Transfers from Wyndham Rewards do not get the 25% bonus for whatever reason!
In my opinion, there are only two hotel programs worthy of transferring your points – Starwood and Marriott. Or as I mentioned above, this could also be a good way to get rid of some orphaned points in another program where you aren’t going to redeem for a free night anyways and would prefer them in your American Airlines account.
Starwood Transfer to American
Starwood points always transfer to American Airline miles (as well as many other airline programs) at a 1:1 ratio. Additionally, you’ll always receive a 5,000 point bonus on every 20,000 points transferred. So for every 20,000 points transferred, taking into consideration the 25% bonus, you’d end up with 31,250 American Airline miles.
Marriott Transfer to American
The best transfer is for Marriott’s Hotel + Air packages where you receive a certain number of miles based on the package selected.
So if you are looking to redeem for the 7 Nights + 120,000 Miles at a category 1-5 package, you’ll get a 25% bonus on the 120,000 miles transferred over to American Airlines, giving you a 30,000 mile bonus.
Overall… a nice promotion for those that are looking to increase their airline miles and get a better value then redeeming their hotel points. Just make sure you have a place to use your AA miles!

AA has been very very stingy about Saver fare level redemption.
I would not convert my valuable hotel points to AA and then not be able to redeem them for anything.
AA has to start allowing some decent redemption. It’s horrible now.
I don’t see it coming, though… sadly
