If travel is on your horizon and you have an American Express credit card, you might be in luck. Right now, American Express put out many new offers in the hotel category, which means you can save a ton of money on your next hotel stay. These Amex Offers include a statement credit when you are staying at a Kimpton, InterContinental and Marriott property.
To check your eligibility, you’ll need to sign into your American Express account — online or in the app — and head over to the Amex Offers section. Online you just need to scroll down to see all of your Amex Offers within the ‘Amex Offers & Benefits’ section and through the app you’ll need to select the ‘Amex Offer’ button on the bottom of the screen. Once you see the offer you’ll need to add it to your card. Only purchases after you enroll will be eligible.
You also might see the offer on multiple cards, although once you enroll on one card, the offer will disappear on the rest. So make sure to enroll on the card which you will use as your form of payment.
Remember, when you use these offers, your total bill must be the minimum threshold, which can include all incidentals put on your bill. This means even if you pay with points, if you charge everything to your room — dining, activities, resort fees, etc. you can still trigger the statement credit if you meet the minimum.
Your charge must also hit by the expiration date. This means if it is a prepaid stay for a future date, it should count. But, if you have a stay that goes through the expiration date, but doesn’t hit your credit card statement by that date, it will not count.
InterContinental Amex Offer
With this offer, if you spend $300 or more, you’ll receive a $60 statement credit. This is only for stays at InterContinental properties and not other properties within the IHG chain. Expires December 31, 2020.
Kimpton Amex Offer
With this offer, if you spend $200 or more, you’ll receive a $40 statement credit. This is only for stays at Kimpton properties and not other properties within the IHG chain. Expires December 31, 2020.
Marriott Amex Offer
With this offer, if you spend $200 or more, you’ll receive a $50 statement credit. This is for stays at any of Marriott’s 30 hotel brands. Expires September 21, 2020.
If you are currently traveling, these are great offers to save some money. They also seem to be widely available, so there is a good chance that you’ll have them in your American Express account.
