So I am here in Barbados celebrating my 2 year anniversary with Mrs. Deals. In typical fashion, Mrs. Deals booked the hotel and I just showed up with my bags packed. Usually going on vacation with Mrs. Deals is pretty sweet. That whole status thing definitely has its perks. I mean what’s not to like about upgrades, free breakfast, huge unnecessary rooms, ridiculous views all for nothing extra out of our pockets. Mr. Deals has learned to live a certain way while on vacation!
We get to Barbados the other day and show up at this place called the Crane Resort. I know a lot of you are wondering what the heck that is, given that it’s not a Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, Starwood, Intercontinental, etc. property. It just so happens that this Boutique Hotel happens to be pretty damn nice. It’s next to one of the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world, has 5 pools, is perched up on cliffs overlooking Caribbean blue water and sports its own little village. You never have to leave this place.
I was extremely content with the hotel and our room until I was looking out off our balcony to some of the other rooms available. I looked down and noticed that the entire 1st floor had their own pools! Additionally, all rooms along the side of the hotel had their own private circle jacuzzis off of their balconies! I asked Mrs. Deals about this and she informed me that she booked the least expensive room – no private plunge pool or jacuzzi, not acceptable! She explained her rationale which included that we typically explore the island around the day, the pool water is cold at night and that she had no status to pull around these parts. Mrs. Deals was probably right, we really wouldn’t be using our own pool to the fullest, but I’m still confused I thought Mrs. Deals could finagle some sort of status match!?
Apparently Mrs. Deals hasn’t figured out how to pull these kind of goodies at the Boutique Hotels out there. I’m not going to lie, I’m a little turned off by this (just kidding, still love you and happy anniversary).

Wow lucky you, quote: “I mean what’s not to like about upgrades, free breakfast, huge unnecessary rooms, ridiculous views all for nothing extra out of our pockets”.
>Yet, still not getting your own ‘pool’ amongst all this apparent luxury and in ‘Barbados’ wasn’t good enough for you eh??
>Stop wasting reader’s time with your self deserving ‘all for nothing’ rubbish.
Happy Anniversary!!
@phraktur and mark – thanks for the warm wishes!
I will be going to barbados in 1 week. Can you do a daily trip report?
@Mike – Barbados is absolutely wonderful. I will try to get a trip report out by the end of the week but no promises. Feel free to email me at dealswelike@gmail.com for any questions and I’d be more than happy to help!!
@mike, phraktur – thanks!
@jh – if you’ve been keeping up on my Sunday rants you would know that it’s a lot of sarcasm. Give me a small shack with some surfable waves out front and I’d claim that it would be better than any five star resort. If it makes you feel any better we had a bag stolen from the beach today. Thanks for reading, I guess…
