In just a few weeks, both Chicago and New York City are having their annual Restaurant Week offers where participating restaurants will offer fixed priced lunches and dinners. While Restaurant Week is a great opportunity to check out some high end restaurants are a lower price, you are also able to double dip in the savings by using your American Express credit card.
New York City Restaurant Week Details + Additional Savings
New York City’s restaurant week will run January 18 through February 5, 2016. You can get a 3-course meal for $25.00 during lunch or $38.00 during dinner. Saturdays are excluded and not all restaurants participate on Sundays. You can check out all the participating restaurants here.
If you use your registered American Express credit card, you’ll receive a $5 statement credit with a $25+ purchase at a participating restaurant. You can receive the statement credit up to 4 times PER Amex credit card. And if you have multiple cards, make sure to register them all to fully maximize your savings. Make sure to register your American Express card prior to eating out.
Chicago Restaurant Week Details + Additional Savings
Chicago’s restaurant week will run January 22 through February 4, 2016. You can get a 3-course meal for $22.00 during lunch or $33.00 and/or $44.00 during dinner. You can check out all the participating restaurants here.
If you use your registered American Express credit card, you’ll receive a $5 statement credit with a $25+ purchase at a participating restaurant. You can receive the statement credit an UNLIMITED number of times. Make sure to register your American Express card prior to eating out.
Maximizing Your Savings
Here are some tips to save as much money as possible while dinning out:
- Have the waiter/waitress swipe your credit card with $25 each time until you hit your total bill – remember, tip and tax will count towards the $25 minimum
- Purchase multiple $25 gift cards at the restaurant to use at a future time – just make sure that you are purchasing the gift card directly from the restaurant and not a third-party
- You do not actually need to order from the restaurant week menu to trigger the $5 statement credit
