Bonus Points NOT Posting on Wyndham No Show Stays

A few weeks ago I experimented to see what points would/would not post with a Wyndham hotel no show stay. I booked an incredibly cheap property in Orlando, paid about $35 total for the night, and did not actually check in. With Wyndham properties, no show stays still award regular points, but I wasn’t 100% sure if the stay would trigger any bonus point promotions.

My goal was to see if I could earn the bonus points on these two really really good Wyndham offers by spending the least amount of money possible. The two promotions include:

  • Earn 7,500 points per stay, up to 15,000 points total (2 stays) – you just need to use Masterpass as your payment method when you check out.
  • Earn 10,000 points after 1 stay (one time bonus), although this is a targeted offer. If you are eligible for both (everyone is eligible for #1), you can earn 17,500 points after your first stay or 25,000 points after two stays.

My Experience

My stay at the Orlando property occurred in mid-August. The points for the hotel stay posted within a few days, but three weeks later no bonus points posted. While the terms of the two promotions said it will take 4-6 weeks for the points to post, typically bonus points post within the week. Also, based on comments from my previous post, many readers claimed that their points posted almost immediately, or at most within 3 days. a screenshot of a computer

While the points could always post, I personally wouldn’t attempt the same experiment since I do not believe no show stays will trigger bonus points. While this is unfortunate, it does follow the terms and conditions of the Wyndham rewards program, so I am at least glad to see that their terms are right on par. Back in 2012 no show stays did trigger bonus points, but they must have updated their system at some point within the past 5 years.

On actual stays, the 10K bonus points have posted within 2-3 days, but almost no one has reported the posting of the 7.5K bonus points yet, even weeks after the stay. The promo terms note that those points should post in 4-6 weeks.

Bummer! I have 2 nights of real stays reserved for next week (hotel hopping in the same city), but I was hoping my wife could get a couple of no-show stays on her own account.

Thanks for performing this experiment. The 10K should post reasonably quickly, and I’ve had at least one 7.5K MP bonus post in around 4 business days. On a recent Mattress Run, with actual check-in, those 7.5K MP points have yet to appear. Like others have said, we may have to wait 4-6 weeks to know for sure. Front Desk staff at the Wyndham properties I Mattress Ran at seemed to have no idea what MP was. Meanwhile, I’ve escalated the missing 7.5K MP to Wyndham Rewards online. We’ll see what happens.

Great promo when two spouses qualify for the 10K offer and the 7.5K MP points post; plus the ~1K points one typically gets for a stay.

But if this doesn’t work that means I would actually have to physically visit or worse, actually stay at a Wyndham property.
