Boston’s restaurant week has returned runs through through August 29, 2014. You can get a 3-course meal for $15-$25 during lunch or $28-$38 during dinner. Unfortunately Saturdays and Sundays are excluded. You can check out all the participating restaurants here.
While I personally think restaurant week menus can be quite pricey, you can get a $5 statement credit on a single purchase of $21 or more at any of the participating restaurants. And if you have no desire to go to these restaurants during the specified timeframe or for the restaurant week menu, you can purchase a $21 gift card at the restaurant and still receive the $5 statement credit. Just make sure the gift card is purchased through the restaurant itself and not a third-party vendor.
From the terms it looks like this is not a one-time statement credit, but available unlimited times through August 29th. To receive the $5 statement credit you must register your American Express card one of two ways:
- Sync your Amex to Twitter and tweet #AmexDineOutBos
- Or, registering your Amex card here
Remember, purchasing gift cards will allow you to get 25% off at a participating restaurant for as long as you want! And you can purchase as MANY $21 gift cards as you’d like. Just make sure the gift card is processed through the restaurant itself and not through a third-party vendor. Also, there are many participating restaurants that have locations in other cities as well. So you can purchase a gift card in Boston, and then use it in NYC, for example!
Will any of you be taking advantage of Boston’s Restaurant Week? If so, enjoy!

If you plan on using this deal for dinner (especially the $38 choice) it makes sense to first purchase a $25 gift card with your amex and get $5 back on your statement. Then pay with the gift card, and put the rest of the meal on your amex card (after tip you should be over $21) allowing you to esentially earn $10 off your meal.
Probably most ideal to purchase gift card on separate day but might still work purchasing same day (tried this last night, recieved credit immediately for the gift card, but not yet for the meal part as its pending for $17 since its before tip).
Update on above, both $5 credits posted.
