Can Points from an Ink Cash Account be Transferred to Ink Bold or Plus Accounts?

This is part of the reader question posts that I started last week. You can view more reader questions here. Feel free to email me at dealswelike@gmail.com if you have a question you’d like answered.

Reader JJ emailed asking:

“Can the Ink Cash rewards be transferred to a Sapphire Preferred account? I’ve read other comments and articles that says you can’t. It specifically says cash back unlike the ink classic which says points.”

This is a great question. And do be 100% transparent, I do not know the answer from personal experience. While I have the Chase Sapphire Preferred (and Chase Ink Bold and Chase Ink Plus!) I do not yet have the Ink Cash (or Ink Classic).

I did ask my contact at Chase about this and was told that points from the Chase Ink Cash and Chase Ink Classic card CANNOT be transferred to a Chase Sapphire Preferred account, but can be transferred to a Chase Ink Bold or Chase Ink Plus. However, upon doing my own research I am getting conflicting information. I’ve read many places that you can transfer them to any account, and then I’ve read that you can only transfer points from an Ink Classic account and not a Ink Cash account. Before contacted Chase I always thought you could transfer any of the points freely, but never actually tried myself with these two accounts.

Now with that being said, you CAN transfer points from a Chase Freedom account and Chase Sapphire (non-preferred) account to a Chase Ink Bold, Chase Ink Plus, or Chase Sapphire Preferred account. You can read more about this process here.

So I’d love to hear readers personal experience. Have you been able to transfer points from a Chase Ink Cash or Chase Ink Classic account to a Chase Sapphire Preferred account?

I’ll be sure to post the response based on readers success stories!

I was unable to transfer points from an Ink Classic to an Ink Plus/Bold, or CSP. I tried a few different times with different reps and no success. Love to hear of other’s experiences!

I also have an Ink Cash and CSP. I’ve transferred points from the Cash to the CSP numerous times online without problems.

I had transferred “Rewards” points from the regular Ink (which I got back when it was the only Ink card offered and UR did not exist yet) to my Ink Bold in the past, but called in today (in response to this post) to do it again and was told it could not be done. The CSR also denied you had ever been able to do it in the past, which I know is not true. I think something has changed. Too bad since I have an old Ink that has 3/3/3 on gas/restaurants/office supply.

I know this is an old post but I wanted to add a data point that I just was able to transfer UR points from my Ink Cash to my Chase Sapphire Preferred account instantly today (October 2014) with no problems.
