By now you are all probably well versed in the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card. While the sign up bonus alone is a pretty awesome reason to get the card, there are also some great perks that come along with being a card member. The best perk is the $300 travel credit, which I’ve written about many times (herehereand here)But another money saving perk is that the card will actually pay for your Global Entry application fee! To apply for Global Entry it costs $100 and lasts for 5 years. If you travel enough internationally, I think it is well worth it. The card will reimburse the $100 fee once every 5 years.

Since I both already have Global Entry and it doesn’t expire for about 3 more years, I have no need to utilize the Chase Sapphire Reserve benefit. Instead of using the reimbursement on myself, I applied it for my 3 year old daughter! And my husband did the same with his card and our 6 month old son! With the card, the $100 reimbursement does not need to be used for an application in your name! You can use it for anyone you desire – a family member, friend, a complete stranger. It does not matter. You just need to charge the $100 application fee to your Chase Sapphire Reserve and it will be automatically reimbursed!

screen-shot-2016-12-20-at-12-11-24-pmNow my 3 year old daughter and 6 month old son are on their way to receiving Global Entry. I still need to make an appointment with them and bring them in for an interview (which will be quite comical with two little kids), but that is protocol regardless of the age. In the past, we’ve been able to bring our daughter with us in the Global Entry line in Aruba, but I know most customs lines are not as lenient and with a few international trips coming up this year, we are willing to do anything that will make our flights more seamless. For those not aware, every single passenger needs Global Entry to use the Global Entry kiosk – even babies!

So if you already have the card and wondering what to do with the Global Entry reimbursement, if you already have it, pay for someone else’s application!

You could have gotten NEXUS, which comes with global entry for free. NEXUS doesn’t charge for minors.

How long did it take between your application and your card being charged the $100? It’s been several weeks for me — have already scheduled the interview…

Does authorized user on the card get the $100 credit also?

Thanks,
