Club Carlson just announced a new promotion which will offer triple points on all eligible stays. This is a pretty lucrative offer, especially when it can be combined with some other promotions that they are currently running at the same time.
Through June 28, 2015, earn triple points on all stays. You must, however, register for this offer prior to your stay. Typically, you can 20 points per dollar spent, so this means you’ll earn an additional 40 points per dollar spent. This means you are ultimately getting 60 points per dollar spent for every single eligible paid stay.
I am personally done accruing Club Carlson points (due to the end of the recent Club Carlson credit card changes), but might possibly jump on this offer since it can be stacked with some other existing promotions:
- 1,000 points with Club Carlson app: Book your stay through the Club Carlson app and earn 1,000 bonus points.
- 30,000 points on next stay: If you have the Club Carlson credit card, you are probably already aware that they are getting rid of the last night free benefit. I’ve written about my disappointment quite a bit over the past few days! But to lessen the blow of the bad news, the are offering those with the credit card an opportunity to earn 30,000 points on their next stay as long as the pay with the Club Carlson credit card. More details on the 30,000 point offer.
- 10,000 points with the Mega Points rate: There is another offer available where you can earn a 10,000 point bonus at participating hotels by using the rate code MEGAPTS. There are not many participating hotels, and make sure you are still getting the best rate available since you are required to use a certain rate code. More details on the Mega Points rate.
While stacking these offers is great for a planned stay, it might also make sense to find a hotel to stay at just for the points – a spur of the moment one night vacation or a mattress run might actually pay off! Here how the math breaks down (I am leaving the 10,000 point offer out since many hotels are not eligible):
- Let’s say you find an $80/night room, that will typically earn you 1,600 points (20 points/$ spent)
- And if you are a Gold member (due to the Club Carlson credit card benefit), you’ll earn 560 points (35% bonus)
- And if you use your Club Carlson credit card to pay, you’ll earn another 800 points (10 points/$ spent) (assuming Premier or Business card)
- With the triple points promotions you’ll earn an extra 3,200 points (40 points/$1 spent)
- And if you book your reservation through the Club Carlson app (no reason not to!), that will get you a flat 1,000 points
- And if you have the Club Carlson credit card you’ll earn the goodwill gesture of 30,000 points
So on an $80 stay (which I believe is very feasible to find), you’ll earn a grand total of 37,160 points. And, if you use the points prior to May 31, 2015 you’ll be able to still get your second night free. While not nearly as good as the 50,000 point mattress runs I did a few years ago, this is still pretty lucrative. If I am able to find a cheap hotel I’ll probably take advantage.

Any idea if you can get all the bonuses by booking a prepaid rate and no-showing?
@Robert – Unfortunately, Club Carlson properties do not give points for no shows. I believe Wyndham is the only one that does this. If you call the hotel directly though they might be willing to put you down that you checked in.
Just had my brother do a check in for me in Michigan to get the 5000 point bonus. Ended up with 42,633 in points for a $111.87 stay. Not too bad…
@DaVe – pretty good especially if you can redeem with the 2nd night free
