This is a quick update on my post yesterday regarding the Chase Sapphire Preferred 7% annual bonus. While it was pretty much confirmed from valid sources that the 7% annual bonus was ending for new cardmembers, the exact date of when you needed to apply by was still not exactly known.
Well, I’ve received full confirmation from my Chase partners that effective yesterday, Sunday July 20th, the 7% annual bonus is no longer a benefit to new customers. If you applied prior to that date (and hopefully those that were interested in this benefit did on Saturday when I initially wrote about it), you will continue to receive this benefit through 2015 spend with the last dividend award showing on your statement early 2016.
While the 7% annual dividend benefit was by no means the only reason to have this card, it definitely was a good perk. Fortunately, Chase is adding a few good benefits to the card and I will write more about them this week.
Hopefully this will clear up question for those that applied for the card the past few weeks.

I wonder if Chase will target the Freedom card next with it’s annual bonus of 10%.
What does this mean: “you will continue to receive this benefit through 2015 spend with the last dividend award showing on your statement early 2016.”
Why does it end then? I have had the card since mid 2013, do I lose the 7 bonus in 2016 too?
