Travel Deals on Cyber Monday?

I am not sure about you, but I was quite disappointed with the lack of travel deals yesterday on Black Friday. While there has never been a slew of deals in the past, there were typically a few more. This years showing were quite poor (in my opinion of course!).

Interestingly enough though, I read an article this morning on Forbes.com that states travel deals seem to be promising coming Cyber Monday. The article specifically states: “Get your computer ready: airfare isn’t being left behind this Cyber Monday. Hopper, a data-driven travel search engine, predicts that this year there will be a record number flash sales on airline tickets.” The article goes on to say that typically you’ll find more domestic deals over international deals, and hubs like Denver, Chicago, and Atlanta are the top airports to find a sale. It also states that many of the sales start at 9am ET on Monday.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that is true!

If you are looking for some flight deals come Monday, here are my recommendations for you:

  • Check out Deals We Like blog and twitter feed. I know that is self-promoting, but I will be constantly tweeting with the travel deals I find on Monday. Make sure to follow me on twitter. Check out the Black Friday/Cyber Monday tab to see what travel deals are going on.
  • Follow The Flight Deal on Twitter. They are typically the best at finding route specific discounts and incredible fares.
  • Check out the low cost carriers first thing Monday morning. I expect some sort of across the board deal from at least one of these “low-cost” carriers, including Southwest, JetBlue, and Frontier.
  • Book now and cancel later! Many airlines allow you to cancel 24 hours after the reservation is made (as long as the flight is 7 days out typically). So book right when the deal comes available, and decide later!

In addition to flight deals, I am really hoping for some other travel-related day. I am personally hoping for deals from Silvercar (high-end car rental company), Jetsetter (hotel booking site), HotelsTonight (hotel booking site), TravelPony (hotel booking site), and Orbitz (third-party travel booking site). And remember, many hotel sites have already announced their Cyber Monday offers where I compiled many of the offers in a prior post last week – make sure to check them out!

So let’s hope for some good travel deals on Monday!
