My Daily Getaways Success

The Daily Getaways 5-week promotion is now and I must say, I am quite pleased with my purchases. Out of the 22 days, I made purchases on two of the days. While I would have loved to make a third purchase as well with the Hyatt packages, I had absolutely no skin in the game. Those packages are near impossible to buy, although someone has to be the winner, but I didn’t even make the attempt.

Due to the popularity of these packages, some of them require you to be ready to hit the “purchase” button the second they go on sale. I had two computers up and was ready to go! Ultimately, I bought Choice Privileges points and Marriott eGift Certificates.

Choice Privileges Deals

Choice Privileges points is one of my new found favorite hotel programs. I’ve recently became aware of Bluegreen Vacation clubs and found that there is one right near one of my families favorite ski mountain in New Hampshire. With this property, we can use just 16,000 points to stay in a 1- or 2-bedroom condo (with a full kitchen) based on availability.

I purchased a total of 140,000 points for $698. This will get us over 8 nights at this particular property for just $87 per night. This is a steal for this particular property less than half a mile from Loon mountain, an indoor pool (the outside pool is only during the summer months), a hot tub and a kids arcade area. Not to mention a multi-bedroom condo with a kitchen.

Marriott eGift Cards

We are heading to Portugal this summer and already have reservations for the Pine Cliffs Residence property in The Algarve. Awhile back I booked a 4-night stay for around $900 total. Due to the high number of Marriott points to redeem at this property, we decided to actually pay for our reservation.

With the Daily Getaways, I purchased a $500 Marriott Gift card for only $400. While the 20% discount was across the board for all packages, I pressed my luck and tried for the highest value. I would have purchased more, but the promotion went on sale at the exact same time as pre-school pickup. I picked up my son a few minutes early, and from my phone purchased the deal. All while trying to wrangle my son into the car and avoiding other moms in the pre-school parking lot.

Right away, this is taking $100 off my Portugal vacation in just a few weeks! That $900 hotel stay is now just $800. A pretty good deal for a 2-bedroom suite at an awesome beach resort.

Five Packages Still Left for Sale

There are still 5 packages unsold available to purchase. These offers will be available through June 21, 2019 or until they sell out — whichever one is first. Clearly these are not the best deals to be had, but for some, they could still provide some great savings.

Out of the remaining packages, my favorite offers include Wyndham Rewards, Discovery Cove Dolphin Swim Packages, and some of the theme park offers. Spending $750 on the Avis President’s Club Membership is a waste in my mind, but all the others might save you some money. Of course, compare the prices against the lowest available rate and see if they will in fact save you money. Just be aware of any expiration dates tied to the packages.

Overall…

I am a huge fan of the Daily Getaways promotion and have made a purchase or two (or three) every single year. They have always saved my family money and I am looking forward to them again next year!
