If you follow the frequent flyer world you are probably already well aware that Delta has scrapped their award charts from their site and states that the only way to know how much an award cost is to search for your flight and it will then tell you the number of miles required. This is a big deal as you will have to look up every route to know how many miles you need to earn for a free flight on your desired route. It also raises some question of whether or not they are charging folks the same number of miles per flight and if they are going to fully change their awards program to a revenue based system. Fortunately I am as far as you can get from a Delta frequent flyer and the number of miles I have with their program is insignificant. But for those that have been loyal to Delta for years, they are pissed and have every right to be!

Instead of recapping every single scenario on the system, I am going to direct you to some other bloggers who have already covered this and have written up a great perspective. So here you go…

  • Delta Points and Mommy Points both recap the entire situation of Delta not displaying their award chart.
  • DansDeals lists has screen shots of all 34 Delta award charts. This is a great post to bookmark in case you want to come back at some point and see how much an award should cost.
  • View From the Wing wrote a piece questioning whether or not Delta will go to a revenue based system which means you redeem miles based on the cost of the flight, not a fixed value.
  • Pizza in Motion plays takes the opposite position and states that Delta removing their award chart really isn’t as big of a deal as others are making it out to be.
