A few days ago I wrote about an awesome mistake fare where you could fly from Washington, DC to Beijing on business class for as little as $442! This was an awesome fare and wasn’t around for too too long. I was personally able to get these low fares to load and blog about it giving readers a few minutes or so to jump on the bandwagon. However, I did not book these fares as I already have a few vacations planned in the next few months and now that I have a 22-month year old I am not able to take advantage of every mistake fare like I used to.
With any heavily discounted fare, there is always a question of whether or not the airline will honor it. While the DOT has rules against keeping these discounted fares, there are many ways around them so it is never a guarantee (for example, the United fare from London last month).
Well… fortunately, if you did go ahead and book this fare you are in luck! IT WILL BE HONORED! The one caveat is that it will only be honored as of now for those that actually booked and ticketed the fare. Those that put it on the 24-hour hold unfortunately never had their flight ticketed and were instead canceled. I’ve heard a few reports of passengers being able to get an airline agent to re-instate the ticket, but chances are most will not have much luck.
For those that booked, enjoy Beijing!
