Earlier today I wrote that Amazon was having a weekend special where they were offering a one year Amazon prime membership for $73. Typically this membership is $99, so this is a discount of $26. If you were thinking about signing up for Amazon Prime, now is a good time to do so! Also, if you recently subscribed to Amazon Prime, I highly suggest chatting with them via messenger online to see if they will credit your account the $26. Some readers emailed me saying they’d had good luck getting the credit! This discounted sale is valid through this Sunday night!
Unfortunately, this is ONLY valid for new Amazon Prime membership and not an Amazon Prime Subscription Gift. This means it is only valid for NEW Amazon Prime members and you are not able to go through the gifting loophole to purchase for a membership for multiple years.
Purchasing a Membership:
You can purchase a new Amazon Prime Membership here. During checkout you will see the discounted $73 appear. This will give you 365 days of prime subscription which includes free 2-day shipping, instant video streaming, Prime music, kindle books, cloud photo storage, prime pantry, Amazon Mom which will give you 20% off diapers, etc.
Free Trial
If you are not 100% sure if you want to purchase the membership now, you can always sign up for a free trial and decide at a later time. It seems like they offer a discounted membership a few times throughout the year, so this opportunity should surface again.
- Amazon Prime Trial – free 30 day trial
- Amazon Mom Trial – free 30 day trial
- Amazon Student Trial – free 6 month trial! (Amazon Student rates are only $49 everyday, so if you are a student then do not purchase the today only special of $73! – all you need is a .edu email address which anyone can set up at a local community college – with this membership you cannot share it with other people)
Remember, Amazon Prime subscription will automatically renew, so if you are not 100% sure if you’ll want to keep the membership from year to year, make sure to change your settings to NOT auto renew.

I have Amazon Prime which expires in February. I was not planning on renewing. Let me know if I am eligible for the 26% discount, and if it will begin in February, when my subscription expires.
Thanks
@Barbara – Unfortunately this is only valid for those that are not currently an Amazon Prime member. With that being said, you can sign up for a new membership with a new email and have it start today and overlap your current membership.
