United and Miles4Migrants Partnership: Help Reunite Refugee Families by Donating Your Miles

I recently became aware of an awesome organization called Miles4Migrants where the goal is to help reunite families who have been separated by war, persecution and disaster. The company originally launched in 2016, but just recently partnered with United. With this partnership, United MileagePlus members can help by donating miles directly to help bring families together.

I am a big fan of this organization as it helps frequent fliers come together and help others in need. Not only that, one of the co-founders lives nearby and our kids are friends and in class together in preschool. On a personal level, I love helping those in my community, especially when it is a passion very close to my heart.

donate united miles to help families reunite — Right now they have a goal to raise 5 million miles and they are almost half way there.

With the United partnership, you can donate as few as 1,000 miles, but for Miles2Migrants to receive any donation, they must raise 5,000,000 miles by Friday, Nov. 22.

If you do not have United miles to donate, you can also pledge to help a family from more then 30 loyalty programs. This includes Chase Ultimate Reward points, American Airline miles, Southwest points, etc. No donation amount is too small and every little bit helps. (They also accept monetary donations if you want to help, but do not have the miles and points to donate).

About Miles4Migrants

Miles4Migrants is a 501(c)(3) charity, dedicated to using donated frequent flyer miles to reunite families around the world separated by war, persecution, and disaster, so that they can start a new beginning in a new home. Miles donations pay for flights of those who have legal approval to join their loved ones in their new country but can’t afford the airfare. Miles4Migrants partners with other nonprofits to identify refugees, asylees, asylum seekers, and their immediate family members in need. Since launching in 2016, we’ve used donated miles to fly over 1,600 people from 48 countries of birth, reunited 600+ families, and redeemed over 27 million frequent flyer miles with over $750k in cash value.

There are also many success stories so you can see exactly where your miles will go. These are heartbreaking stories, but fortunately have a happy ending thanks to those donating their miles and points.
