For all Amtrak train rides between March 16 and May 17, 20145 you will earn double points! This is for any route, no exclusions!
Typically you earn 2 points per $1 spent on Amtrak travel, so with this promotion you’ll earn 4 points per $1. There is also a 100 point minimum you’ll earn each trip (one-way) regardless of the price. For Acela Business class trips you’ll earn a flat 500 points, so with this promotion you’ll earn 1,000 points. If you travel first class you’ll earn 1,500 points with this promotion instead of the normal 750 points.
You must register for this promotion. The terms do not state whether registration must be done by travel date or not, but I’d suggest just doing it now.
And remember, if you trying take the Acela route between NYC and Washington, D.C., you can get 25% off all Saturday trains.
Enjoy!

Beside the usual Amtrak weekly Smartfare deals that saves 25%, the train route between KC and STL and vice versa is discounted 20% until the end of the month. Also some of the trains running into and out of Chicago between the 9th and 17th of March will be 20% cheaper. Best to book early, since Amtrak does limit lower price tixes for each trip.
