Between April 8 and May 25, 2016 targeted accounts will receive double points on ALL Southwest flights. The one kicker, however, is that you must register for the promotion PRIOR to booking your flight. Now, if you’ve already booked your flight and the price has not increased, you can cancel your flight and re-book – just make sure to not change the flight as you will need a new reservation number.
With this promotion you will earn the following points:
- Wanna Get Away Fares: 12 points per dollar spent (instead of 6 points)
- Anytime Fares: 20 points per dollar spent (instead of 10 points)
- Business Select Fares: 24 points per dollar spent (instead of 12 points)
If you were contemplating using points for future travel instead of paying for the flight, I’d suggest paying for it. Keep in mind though you will not have the same perks if you need to cancel the flight or if the cost of the flight goes down in price.
While this targeted offer went out via email, you can check to see if you are eligible by trying to register here. If you are eligible you’ll receive this screen and the registration button.
If you are not eligible, you’ll unfortunately receive this screen.
Other Targeted Offers!
If you were not targeted for the above offer, there are also a few other promotions going on at the same time for select members.
Double points for using early bird check-in:
If you purchase the “EarnBird Check-In” option for your flight, you’ll receive double points for the flight! This promotion has the same exact time frame as the one above where it runs April 8 through May 25, 2016 (you must book and travel during these dates). This option will automatically check you in 24 hours prior to your flight. This will give you the benefit of a better boarding number. EarlyBird Check-In costs $15. With the double points earned, you will ultimately break even on a $90 flight. You can see if you are eligible for this promotion by trying to register here.
Double points for business select fares:
This promotion will give you double points when purchasing business select fares. Typically, purchasing these fares are extremely expensive and you will not get your value’s worth if you are only doing it for the points. The only times the fares are somewhat equal is when you are looking to purchase a last minute flight. This promotion runs March 31 through May 31, 2016 (you must book and travel during these dates). You can see if you are eligible for this promotion by trying to register here.
Check to see all targeted offers
The above offers were the ones I found in my family members accounts, however, you can also check to see all promotions you are eligible for by going into your Southwest online account. Go to the “Promotions” tab on the left-hand side within your Rapid Rewards account and all your promotions (if any will appear).
For those that are able to earn double points, enjoy!

No promotions available for me.
Targeted promotions are a major slight.
I don’t have this offer on my account, but then again, I’m A List preferred and earn double points anyway. Do you happen to know the status of people who are eligible for the promotion?
@Jackie – I just all family members accounts and none have any status and all received at least one offer.
Just checked my husband’s account. He isn’t A List and he did receive the offer.
The links above lead me to a blank page with clouds after I log in and it doesn’t say whether or not I’m eligible…anyone else?
