Southwest is sending out targeted promotions where you can earn 2x points on every Southwest flight, plus a way to earn A-List status a lot quicker! Even if you didn’t receive the email, check your Southwest account to see if you are eligible. You can check here.

Earn 2x points

For all flights between June 19 and September 30, 2017, you’ll earn 2x points on every paid Southwest flight. Unfortunately though, this is for new reservations only and you must register prior to booking your flight. So if your flight hasn’t gone up in price, you can always cancel and rebook.

Fast track to A-List status

They are also offering a fast track challenge to earn A-List status. Between now and September 30, 2017, if you fly six one-ways, you’ll earn the status through December 31 2017. Or, if you fly 10 one-ways, you’ll earn the status through December 31, 2018!

Typically, A-List status requires 25 one-ways within the calendar year (or 35,000 qualifying points), so this is a great way to get the status with way less flying! I personally wouldn’t go out of your way to earn the status, but if you are flying anyways, you might as well get it! Or, if you are on the brink of making it, find a cheap Southwest flight for a mileage run. Just make sure the cost of this extra flight pays for the benefits you’ll receive.

A-List status will get you the benefits listed above. Most people’s favorite is probably priority boarding since Southwest does not have assigned seats. Other great benefits are the 25% earning bonus and the free same-day standby. I think the free same-day standby is actually my personal favorite benefit!

Weird. I got that email but when I clicked on the link, I got an error message saying my session had expired. Then I clicked the link in your post and got the same error. I’m assuming this only applies to flights booked after opting in?
