Southwest just came out with a new offer where you can earn up to 12,000 bonus points for flying Southwest. Unfortunately though, this is a targeted offer and requires you to fly the more expensive fare classes. Check your promotions page in your Southwest account to see if they are eligible.Bottom line: This promotion won’t work for most, but a few select individuals might benefit.
How to Earn 12,000 Bonus Rapid Reward Points
If you are flying on a paid Anytime or Business Select fare between Jan. 22 and March 31, 2020, you can earn up to 12,000 points:
- Book and fly one round trip and get 2,000 points
- Book and fly a second round trip and get 4,000 more points
- Book and fly a third round trip and get 6,000 more points
Similar to most other Southwest promotions, you must register PRIOR to booking your flight. This means if you happen to already have a qualifying flight already booked, you will not be eligible for the offer. However, if your flight has not increased in price, you can always cancel and rebook.

Overall…
This is not a great promotion due to it being limited to just Anytime and Business Select fares. Most travelers book “Wanna Getaway” flights with Southwest as they are the least expensive tier class. Typically, it is only business travelers who book the more expensive fares due to the even more flexibility policies.

The worst part of this promotion you failed to include is that you have to book a “ROUND TRIP”. I was targeted for this promotion but I only book one way trips so this promotion is useless.
