Southwest Airlines is sending out what I assume to be targeted emails giving members the opportunity to earn bonus points for using their co-branded credit card. With this offer, you’ll earn 2,000 bonus points for spending $4,000 on the card. While this is not a ton of points, if you are going to be using your Southwest credit card anyways and have some heavy spend coming up, earning about $30 worth is always welcomed!
To see if you are eligible for this offer, either check your email or enter your information on this Chase website. You must spend the $4,000 by between July 15th and September 15th. The 2,000 bonus points is worth approximately $30 in Southwest travel on a “Wanna Getaway Fare”. Keep in mind though that while the points earned from the $4,000 spend will count towards the Southwest Companion Pass, the 2,000 bonus points will not!

Assuming someone is interested in acquiring points that can be used on SWA and are under the 5/24 rule, why would you spend $4,000 to earn 2,000 points when you could use that to meet the spend requirement on a new card that would give you at least 40,000+ bonus points?
