Earn American Airline Miles with Hotel Reviews

The site HolidayCheck.com will give you miles for simply writing a hotel review on their site. While their partnerships are limited, you can earn 70 American Airline miles for every review written. You are limited to 10 hotel reviews per month and you can go back an entire 24 months. Other partnerships include Lufthansa, Airberlin, airBaltic, and Etihad.

While you might not think 70 miles is worth your time at all (and I am not in total disagreement), this can help you extend the expiration date on your American miles if needed. It also might help you earn those few extra miles needed to redeem for an award flight. It states that miles can take up to 4 weeks to post to your account.

I went ahead and wrote a review on a recent stay and it took me about 3 minutes in total. Perfect for those board at work looking to earn some miles although not an activity that will get you a free flight right away. Although you can earn over 8,000 miles at the end of the year if you stay in hotels a lot!

I did 10 reviews last night while I was sitting around watching TV. It took about 30 minutes, but I figure if I can do that 12 months/year, 8400 miles is like $150 bucks to me.

I considered this a good bit. I agree with Nathan that 8400 miles has a value of ~$150 if cashing in. If I were to buy 8000 miles outright, it would cost me $224, but I would never pay that much to purchase miles.

Anyway, assuming I could earn $150 this year IF I stayed at 10 hotels every month, and IF I wrote an article about each hotel, and IF I do that 12 months in a row…
It’s not worth it.
$150 for a YEAR of writing, i.e. for 120 hotel reviews? Jeez Louise I’d pay $150 to avoid that kind of writing assignment! I agree with the author that the concept could benefit someone worried about keeping their account active. But otherwise, a year’s commitment for $150 is massively underpaid.

The author did a good job finding this offer. I appreciate the chance to consider the pros & cons.

Does this still work? I didn’t see American Airlines as an option on HolidayCheck.com, they had Lufthansa as the miles option instead. Thanks!

Earlier this week I wrote a review for Holiday Check–when I did NOT see the AA options to earn
miles I dropped them a note and this is the reply I received:

Dear Xxxx,
First of all, thank you a lot for your interest in HolidayCheck. Unfortunately this option is no more available. It won´t be possible to earn miles with American Airlines.

We hope that we helped you. If you have any questions, don´t hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
Your HolidayCheck Team
