Earn Double AirTran Airways Credits

Between February 14th and May 15th, AirTran Airways is offering double credits on every flight you take. Typically you earn 1 credit for every one-way flight in coach and 1.5 credits for every one-way flight in business class. During this promotional time period you will instead earn 2 credits for every one-way flight in coach and 3 credits for every one-way flight in business.

To redeem for a free roundtrip ticket it requires 16 credits, so if you fly 4 roundtrips during this promotion period a free ticket is yours (for coach travel)!

Now, the one major caveat to this (which I HATE and Southwest Airlines does the same thing) is that you must have booked your ticket during the promotional dates (February 14-May 15). Any travel that was booked previously, even if the travel dates fall into the promotional dates will not earn you double credits. Unlike Southwest, you are not able to cancel your flight for free and then re-book if the price did not go up. You also MUST register for this promotion prior to traveling for it to count.

Details:

  • Register for this promotion between February 14, 2013 and May 15, 2013
  • Book your flights through AirTran® Airways between February 14, 2013 and May 15, 2013
  • Complete your flight between February 14, 2013 and May 15, 2013
Also, since some Southwest and AirTran flights are being operated by each other, regardless of which website you book through, this promotion is only valid for those flights booked through AirTran, not Southwest. For flights booked through the Southwest site you’ll earn double Southwest points.
Also remember, even if you are not a big AirTran traveler you can transfer your credits to Southwest if that is preferable.

[…] Double AirTran Credits: AirTran is offering double credits for flights through May 15 booked after registration.  I think AirTran is an under-appreciated airline and is particularly lucrative when flying short, cheap routes which would otherwise just offer 500-1000 miles each way.  With this promotion, just two round-trips on AirTran will be enough for a free one-way coach flight, including to their destinations in the Mexico or Caribbean.  Promotions like this one and other targeted offers come around fairly frequently and because of it I fly on AirTran somewhat regularly.  Don’t forget you can also convert your AirTran credits to Southwest points; each one-way will be equivalent to 2400 Rapid Rewards points through this promotion, so the same two round-trips will be worth $160 toward Southwest “Wanna Get Away” fares, possibly more valuable (and certainly more flexible) than a free one-way on AirTran.  HT: Deals We Like […]
