Late last year, Starwood introduced a new brand under their SPG umbrella – Design Hotels. These hotels are existing boutique hotels where you can earn and redeem SPG points. While the Design Hotel properties are still limited, there are some great new options! Design Hotels are currently in United States: New York City; Mexico: Mexico City, Acapulco, Guadalajara, Puerto Escondido, Puebla, Monte Gordo, and San Rafael; Africa: Nairobi and Johannesburg; Asia Pacific: Shanghai, Seoul, and Singapore; Europe: Vienna, Paris, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and Ukraine; United Kingdom: London.

With that being said, I just received an email from Starwood that they are rolling out a new promotion which starts today! If you stay three times at any Design Hotel you’ll earn a free night to use for a future time. Your stay must occur between March 16 and May 31, and the free night earned can be used through September 30, 2016. Of course, the free night is only valid at category 1-5 hotels and you can earn a maximum of 2 free nights per account. You also must register for this promotion by May 16, 2016.

Keep in mind that there are a few other SPG promotions going on during the same time. Therefore, not only will you earn stays towards free nights while staying at a Design Hotel, you can also earn 2x Starpoints through April 30, 2016. Also, during this “Winter Promotion” if you stay 15-24 nights you’ll earn 2,500 bonus points and if you stay 25+ nights you’ll earn an additional 7,500 bonus points. You can learn more about this promotion here.
