One of the benefits of the The Business Platinum Card® from American Express OPEN is that it gives you automatic hotel status for a few different chains just for being a card member. If you travel enough where hotel status is worth it to you, but do not travel enough to actually earn it yourself, this card could help you out!
So here are the hotel statuses you can receive just by being a card member…
Hilton Gold Status
The card comes with Hilton Gold status, which is actually one of the best mid-tier statuses to have out of all of the hotel chains. The reason for this is that Hilton Gold status gives you breakfast for two. Technically it is continental breakfast, but at many Hiltons will give you access to the regular buffet, or might charge you a slight up charge. Hilton Gold status can also get you room upgrades and potentially access to an executive lounge. Gold status will also give you your 5th night free when using points to redeem a free night and late checkout.
Starwood Gold Status
The card also comes with Starwood Gold status. Starwood Gold status will get you 4pm late check out (although doesn’t always apply to resort hotels), as well as a possible upgrade. Another perk of Gold status is that if you fly Delta, you’ll earn bonus SPG points – for every dollar spent on eligible Delta flight, you’ll earn 1 SPG point.
Marriott Gold Status
While this card does not directly give you status at Marriott hotels, due to the Marriott-Starwood merger, you can match your Marriott status to your Starwood status. Since you’ll have Starwood Gold, that is equivalent to Marriott Gold through the match process. Marriott Gold status gets you 4pm check out, lounge access, and continental breakfast (although not at many resort properties). You’ll also receive Hertz #1 Gold membership for a year. Due to the free breakfast and lounge access, Marriott Gold status is better then SPG Gold status.
Overall…
If you are looking for an easy way to earn any of the above statuses, this card can help you achieve that goal. Remember, all three of these are mid-tier statuses, so I wouldn’t bank on getting the nicest suite during your next hotel stay, but there are still some good perks that come with it. In my personal opinion, the best perk is the breakfast and possible lounge access at Hilton and Marriott. And the possibility of receiving an upgrade at any of the hotels is always welcomed!
One other thing to note is that this card does come with a high annual fee per year. Although, there are many benefits to this card and perks that will outweigh the annual fee at least for the first year.

Really? No mention of the $450 annual fee?!
@a – you are absolutely correct. The annual fee should be mentioned. I updated the post to include. Oversight on my part.
