InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) just announced their next promotion which will run between May 1 and September 7, 2015. This promotion, which is in partnership with Coca-Cola Company, will allow you to earn up to 115,500 bonus points, while also allowing you to “share” (or you can decide to keep them!) up to 58,500 points with a friend or family member – a grand total of 174,000 bonus points on top of the regular points you earn during your stay!

Like most other IHG promotions, the number of points you can earn is targeted per account. That means this promotion will be better for some than others. Although, to earn the maximum number of points, it will require a decent number of stays. You can see your targeted offer and register for the promotion here.

My personal offer looked like this:

IHG Share Forever

Every account will have the same offer for staying one night where you’ll get 500 points plus an additional 500 points to share (or keep). After that, it goes by tiers and those offers differ per account. Although, all accounts are eligible to earn the same 58,500 points “to share”. The extra bonus points you earn “for you” will range somewhere between 68,500 and 115,500 bonus points. I checked all my families accounts and we were all targeted for the lowest offer possible. Also, if you take a look at the screen shot above, you’ll notice that at the 12 nights above goal line, you have the option for 25,000 points or a free night (for both “you” and to “share). The free nights is only valid at a participating IHG hotel in the Americas and the stay must occur by June 30, 2016 for the “For You” certificate and September 30, 2015 for the “To Share” certificate.

While I personally preferred last Fall’s promotion where I was able to earn 54,000 points and three free night certificates after completing 4 stays, this can still be a valuable offer for those who typically stay at IHG properties. For most, this is not a good mattress run promotion.

What was your targeted offer? Will you be taking advantage?

“I cannot find any terms about when the free night expires, but I’ll try to find out for you all.” – It is in the “Campaign term and conditions” – click on these words in very small font located at the very bottom of the promo registration page. The ensuing PDF file states that the free night will be fulfilled via a code deposited into the members account good for one night stay at a participating IHG hotel in the Americas. Points must be redeemed and stay must be completed until June 30, 2016. However, designation of friends under the sharing scheme must occur much earlier – by September 30, 2015.
Interestingly, why would anyone take 25,000 points if you can have a free stay at an IHG hotel going for more points, e.g. InterContinental that requires 50,000 points?
