Just recently, Marriott started a “Plus Points” program where you can get free points for participating in social media activities. You can earn up to 2,000 points on a monthly basis for a total of 12,000 points yearly. The best part of this is these points can be earned from the comfort of your home!

All the steps to link your Marriott Rewards account to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Foursquare can be found here.

You can then earn points by:

  • Sharing or retweeting posts to Facebook or Twitter feeds each day
  • Checking into properties on Facebook or Foursquare every day you visit
  • Posting a photo each day to Instagram and tagging it with a property’s location
  • Using #LoveMarriottRewards, #RenHotels or #Autograph in your daily Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts
  • Liking and following select brands and properties in Facebook or Twitter

Number of points you’ll earn with each activity:

Some things to know:

  • You earning preference must be set to earn points, not miles
  • This is only for Marriott Rewards members, not Ritz-Carlton Rewards members
  • Not all brands and properties are participating, so make sure to look at the FAQ list to see qualifying brands/properties

Overall, this is a great way to earn free points every month!

Follows on Twitter have been reliable in receiving points, likes on Facebook have been rather unreliable.
Also, you are eligible to repeat the offer every 30 days, so keep track of which properties you follow and the date.
I followed 8 properties on Twitter when this promo started in May and received 2000 points in about two weeks. I followed 8 different properties on twitter this month and I have received email confirmation that I should be receiving additional points in another week or so.

I’ve got a full list of properties and their linked facebook & twitter accounts which will make things much quicker for those interested.

I received my first 8 sets of 250 in May and then got emails for my second set of 8 saying I would if I still liked them the next week… and yet nothing posted or followed up so far on it. I find myself wondering now if the 30 days is by month or rolling.

The 30 days is rolling. I followed 8 properties on twitter on May 13 and received 2000 points about ten days later. I followed 8 different properties on twitter on June 12 and received 2000 points on June 19-20.

I liked one page per day from May 10-17 on Facebook. I got the points starting on May 18. I’ve tried liking more pages starting June 18 but the emails never came. I then tried following a few of the listed Twitter pages on June 19th but still no emails. It makes no sense because it worked the first month. Any ideas to help?
