American Express is running a pretty awesome offer for those with the no annual fee version of the Hilton American Express credit card. Spend $1,000 on your card between now and December 12, 2016 and you’ll receive a free weekend night certificate to use at almost any Hilton property. You’ll first need to register for this offer by entering your American Express username and password.
My husband and I have had this card for years (ever since you could purchase I believe Vanilla Reloads at CVS and got a crazy bonus at drug stores), but now, this is card that is only used for Amex Offers and Small Business Saturday. Even though we hardly use it for everyday spend and any other benefits that come with the card, it is one of those no annual fee cards that actually makes us money year after year. This offer is now making this card look even better! We will of course use it for the $1,000, but then again put it back in the drawer. Unfortunately though, since I am the authorized user on my husbands card, only he is eligible for this offer, not both of us.
The free night certificate is valid for 1 year from the date of issue. I am not sure if they will issue the certificates immediately upon meeting the $1,000 spend or until the promotion is over. If you are thinking you might not want to use the free night certificate until the end of 2017, you might want to hold off on going over the $1,000 mark until towards the end of the promotion to ensure you extend the life of the certificate. With that being said, if you are looking to use the certificate as soon as possible, I suggest using the card ASAP. The certificate could take 6-8 weeks to arrive. While most properties are included, there are a few excluded hotels.
Things to know:
- Make sure to register for this promotion
- The free night certificate is valid for a weekend night only
- The certificate is valid for 1 year from the date issued
- You must spend $1,000 on the card by December 12, 2016
- This might be a targeted offer, but you still should check your eligibility
- Authorized users are not eligible
Overall, a great offer for those that can take advantage! What Hilton hotel will you be using this at?

must be targeted as I am not eligible
yep me neither
Apparently it’s a targeted offer.
Confirmed
I got the offer! Thanks! My wife is an authorized user. Can she get it too?
nevermind. I missed the part where you mentioned it. Thanks!
@Dan – Unfortunately not 🙁
It is targeted
Sadly, I wasn’t eligible
This is not only days late, but it’s a targeted offer.
@Doug – correct, it is targeted as mentioned in the post: “This might be a targeted offer, but you still should check your eligibility”
Should put Targeted in the post title. Do you need to resort to click bait?
Looking for something else?

Targeted. Waste of time.
Targeted. But thanks for sharing!!
Should change title to say (targeted)
I was targeted, my wife wasn’t (we each have our own card). Thanks so much for the tip!
not eligible.. 🙁
My husband, his father, and I all have this card, but for some reason only my husband was eligible. But thanks for alerting us to this deal. A free weekend night for a normal amount of spending is a no brainer.
Any idea if AU spending counts towards the main card with the offer?
@E – Hmm… I am not sure.
