For those new to Jet.com it is an e-commerce site that is looking to rival both Amazon and Costco. It is a membership only site and is advertising itself to have Costco like prices but the convenience of Amazon. You probably have seen their purple logo all over the place and from what I’ve seen there prices seem to be slightly better then Amazon for some items.

Initially they were giving out free 6-month memberships, but it looks like everyone is now able to get free unlimited membership! As of now, you will never have to pay for membership. Although, I am interested in seeing how long that lasts.

The flip side of this is that they appear to have totally reversed their original goal where buying more of a particular thing lowered the per-unit price of that thing. Now, at least in my recent searches, most of the time buying more of a thing actually INCREASES the average price (first item, save $1.20, but second item, save a total of $1.60, for instance, meaning you’re only saving 40 cents on the second one). They do still have the “buy a greater total number of things and save more” going, but with extremely high-flux inventory, and no transparency. There was no way I was ever going to pay $50 for a membership, and I imagine they saw there were an awful lot of people like me out there, and they need to keep their subscriber numbers up.

Was a member before Jet.com began selling to the general public. Due to higher prices and items, I had previously purchased, no longer available, I have stopped ordering. While I did get quite a few buys, it wasn’t without a few problems.
