Earlier this year, Frontier announced potentially one of the best promotions in family travel. In a nutshell—kids fly FREE! With every paid adult fare, your child (aged 14 years or younger) will fly with you 100% for free. Up until now, Frontier’s booking schedule only went until late Summer, but just today they’ve extended their reservation window for flights through November 13, 2019. Of course this extended timeframe is only for those with a Discount Den membership, but since you need this membership to take advantage of the Kids Fly Free promotion anyways, you can go ahead and start booking your Frontier flights for this Fall and take your kids for free!

Kids Fly Free Promotion

As I mentioned above, to take advantage of the promotion, the adult must be a Discount Den member. This membership costs $59.99 and ultimately gives you access to lower fares throughout the year. If you fly with Frontier quite often, the membership is great, but if you are a once or twice a year flyer on Frontier, the membership probably isn’t worth it. However, now taking into consideration this promotion, it absolutely is worth purchasing the membership! Not only that, you can add up to 6 people onto your reservation using your Discount Den membership, so you do not need to purchase the membership per adult in your household! For example, let’s say two parents are flying with two kids; only one parent actually needs to pay the $60 for the membership, not both.

One other major caveat is that this promotion cannot be combined with other offer or promotion codes. Frontier often runs 30-90% off promotions where you typically need to enter a code to receive the discounted fare. Unfortunately you won’t be able to combine those promotions with the Kids Fly Free tickets. When those awesome offer codes pop up, you might want to see which promotion actually offers you better savings. Now, if they are just running a fare sale, i.e., $29 flights, you can take advantage of both offers.

Lastly, your child can only fly with you for free on select dates. Typically these dates are limited to Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but there are a few other random Saturdays thrown in there. Only these dates qualify:

  • March – 20, 26, 27
  • April – 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30
  • May – 1, 4, 7, 8, 11, 14, 15, 18, 21, 22, 29
  • June – 1, 4, 5, 8, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26
  • July – 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30
  • August – 5, 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28
  • September – 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25
  • October – 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30
  • November – 5, 6, 12, 13, 19

Booking the Flight

When you search flights on FlyFrontier.com eligible flights will show “Kids Fly Free†right underneath the discount den pricing. You’ll then see the discounted price when you continue onto the next page. No promotion code is needed.

Overall

While this is a great promotion, the dates are slightly limited, but if you have a flexible schedule this can definitely work for some families Just remember though, Frontier still charges for seat assignments and baggage, which you’ll still have to pay for on your child’s “free” ticket. Definitely price out your final overall cost when comparing to another airline.

Anyone find a great deal?!
