This is a two part post. The first part written by me thanking all my blog readers, and the second part written by my father-in-law making fun of me with my favorite holiday!
Happy Thanksgiving! First off, I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you all are enjoying the day wherever you may be. While some of you might be traveling around the world on this holiday, I am home for the week visiting family. While I guess I did travel for the holiday, it was only a short trip from New York to Boston. And fortunately I was able to get a head start on my drive and miss the storm that hit the Northeast yesterday. While this is my second Thanksgiving with my 18-month old, it is my first Thanksgiving where she will actually be able to experience eating Turkey and a table full of food. I am very fortunate that she eats everything so it will be really fun watching her full embrace a Thanksgiving meal!
I also want to thank you all for being loyal readers. I absolutely love receiving comments and emails stating how much the blog has helped them get on a good deal. That is my entire goal as it makes me happy sharing my deal and travel knowledge with everyone out there. I’ve been very fortunate to be able to travel to many countries around the world and I hope you all are able to experience that as well. Enjoy any travel plans you have upcoming and continue to take advantage of all the great deals out there!
Now, here is a take on my favorite holiday from my father-in-law. I received this unsolicited blog post from him yesterday as I sat in his living room blogging away about the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals!
Mrs. Deals Favorite Holiday, written by my father-in-law:
So recently Mrs. Deals announced in her daily blog her favorite holiday was just around the corner. Â I didn’t realize Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, but silly me, it wasn’t Thanksgiving, but Black Friday. Â Now I have been around for a while and never really thought of Black Friday as a holiday.
Now on Thanksgiving family gets together, they eat Turkey, maybe do a few decorations of gourds. Â Other holidays like Chanukah, you light candles, eat Latkes (potato pancakes), spin dreidles. Â Christmas we all know you have the tree, Christmas dinner (ham and/or turkey) and hang stockings.
So here is the question, besides getting trampled waiting in line for door buster deals at Wal Mart what other traditions go along with Black Friday. Â When you are invited to black friday dinner, what sort of gift do you bring the host, 3buck chuck bought with enough coupons and points to bring the price down to -$3? Â What does the host serve? Â Half priced Turkey? Â Side dishes from the day old cart? Â Buy one get one sweet potatoes? Â How does one decorate for Black Friday. Â Even Festivus for the rest of us has the Festivus pole. Â Just asking
To a happy and healthy Thanksgiving… and Black Friday!
