Welcome to another post of helping a reader travel!
This weekly post is to help readers get a slew of travel advice from thousand of Deals We Like blog readers. Thus far, we’ve been able to help other readers travel to a slew of domestic and international destinations. Check out recent destinations and comment on suggestions here.
Last week I hit on Vietnam as a whole, but I want to hit on many of the major tourist cities throughout the country. This will include Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi Ann, Halong Bay, (let me know of this are any other cities you want me to cover)
This week is going to be dedicated to Ho Chi Minh City. Here are some things I am sure readers will want suggestions on:
- Where to stay?
- How many days to stay
- Sites to see
- Recommended restaurants
- Anything else you might think is valuable!
I was actually in Ho Chi Minh City / Saigon close to four years ago and really loved my two days there. You can read more about my trip in Ho Chi Minh City and my stay at the Park Hyatt Saigon.
Also, if you have any upcoming travel where you need some help, feel free to email me at dealswelike@gmail.com to be a featured “Help a Reader Travel” Monday special. Thanks!

Might want to proofread the title of this post.
@seth – fat finger, thanks!
We were in HCM City for 8 days, before and after our trip to Malaysia and Singapore. We stayed at the Sheraton Saigon Hotels and Towers for the first part (5 nights using SPG points) and upon return from Malaysia/Singapore at the Park Hyatt Saigon (3 nights using Hyatt points).
Both hotels were very accommodating. Sheraton was a very busy hotel while the Park Hyatt presented a more elegant atmosphere.
If you don’t want to use hotel points, other boutique hotels are also very nice and clean with reasonable price. Tripadvisor has tons of information on hotels in HCM City.
Where to eat: our favorite was Quan An Ngon on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia
They have a variety of food from all regions (South, North, and central).
Another favorite was Lang Nuong Nam Bo on Cach Mang Thang 8. Again, go to Tripadvisor to read the reviews.
Take one or two-day tour to the Mekong Delta where you can truly experience the Vietnamese Southerner living and away from hectic city life. We booked a private tour with Sinh Cafe.
Overall, practice good caution when traveling abroad and experience a wonderful charming country.
Last but not least, use AA miles to book your trip with Japan Airline or United miles on Eva or Thai Airways. Beside HCM City, I would also visit Hoi An, Danang, Hue and Nha Trang.
