Welcome to another post of helping a reader travel!

This weekly post is to help readers get a slew of travel advice from thousand of Deals We Like blog readers. Thus far, we’ve been able to help other readers travel to a slew of domestic and international destinations. Check out recent destinations and comment on suggestions here.

So this weeks travel destination includes Nassau, Bahamas. Here is an email from reader Rae:

“I am looking to do a family trip to Bahamas, but I am looking for some guidance. I have two kids (ages 8 and 10) and while my husband and I would like to relax a little, they are not very good at sitting still! Where would you suggest we stay? We have Hilton points, so we are considering the Hilton but it does not seem like the resort has that much to offer. We are looking into the Atlantis, but it is really expensive so I am hoping a good deal pops up. Are there any other hotels you’d recommend? Also, any tour companies you’d recommend for activities? Restaurant recommendations as well. And any other overall suggestions? Thank you in advance”

If you’ve ever been to Nassau and have any recommendations, let’s help out reader Rae by commenting below.

Also, if you have any upcoming travel where you need some help, feel free to email me at dealswelike@gmail.com to be a featured “Help a Reader Travel” Monday special. Thanks!

Hi. Would recommend Colonial Hilton in Nassau, for a few nights
Can walk to the fish fry (Arawak Key) for fun dining options.
The kids need to spend a day at Atlantis, it is amazing
Also take a stroll through the gardens at One and Only Ocean Club at sunset. (Free)
A side trip to Harbor Island would be fun as well

Comfort Suites offers all the benefits of the Atlantis at a much cheaper price.

Atlantis is incredible and the waterpark would be a great time for a family. Whatever you do, avoid Graycliff the restaurant: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g147416-d1045942-r201187928-Graycliff_Restaurant-Nassau_New_Providence_Island_Bahamas.html#CHECK_RATES_CONT

As much as the Hilton is a nice hotel it’s more of a business hotel as it’s located in the city core. It’s not for families.

I would suggest staying at Comfort Suites directly across from Atlantis. The hotel rooms are all suites with a pull-out sofa bed which is perfect for families. The other great thing is as a guest you can use the Atlantis facilities at NO EXTRA CHARGE! You can use the waterslides, visit the private beaches, use the pools, visit the aquarium… etc.

Oh you also get free continental breakfast at Comfort Suites.

We just returned from Nassau yesterday and although we did not take the kids this time we have in the past. We enjoyed the Hilton in Nassau and it is close to the straw market/fish fry etc. but outside of a small pool area there is not a lot for kids to do. We also got a room at the comfort suites in order to have access to Atlantis for Saturday and Sunday. It is a must do if you have the kids, there is so much to see and the waterpark is so much fun! We used our room at the Comfort Suites just to shower and relax and then went back to Atlantis in the evening for dinner.
The comfort suites is 25000 points, they have a credit card offer that gets you there or if you have amex points those can be transferred to Choice too.
Good luck!! Definitely don’t miss out on Atlantis the kids…and adults too will love it!

Our family of 4 are First-time cruisers and we’ve booked a 7-day Eastern Caribbean (Key West, Freeport and Nassau) with Carnival Magic from Galveston port for next month travel and would like your cruise tips/recommendations for the followings:
1. How to save money on ship
2. Which excursion to book, places to go, where to eat, etc. For Nassau, we book a room at Comfort Suites Paradise Island for 25K Choice pts with Free Atlantis resort access. Is there any extra fees from the hotel? We’ll take a cab to the hotel and our ship will leave at 5pm, what time should we need to leave the Atlantis waterpark?
2. Should we buy travel insurance? If yes, which one do you recommend?

Thanks in advance for your helpful info/tips/recommendations and have a great holiday weekend!

@katie – I will absolutely hit on Key West and Freeport. The travel insurance one will be tricky as it is incredibly broad and not a destination. What exactly were you wondering?

Any recommendations on travel protection insurance which will cover “Cancel for Any Reason” as well as Trip interruption, Trip delay, medical coverage & emergency medical evacuation? Thanks.
