Hilton Status Match!

Hilton is joining the Hyatt bandwagon and offering instant status to those who can prove status with another loyalty program! The exact terms of the promotion do not state whether you will be matched to Gold and/or Diamond status, but my personal assumption is that it will be determined based on your status with the other loyalty program. For example, if you are currently SPG Gold, you will probably be match to Hilton Gold, however, if you are SPG Platinum, you will probably be matched to Hilton Diamond. Of course, that is just my assumption so do not hold me to it!

The exact terms posted by the HHonors Representative on FlyerTalk states:

We’re winding down for the Thanksgiving holiday and, as a heads up, I will be out of the office until Monday, but I wanted to let you know about our status match program…

We’ve been receiving a number of requests and yes, we do match status from other programs and we’d love to be your travel home.
We are matching status for 2016. To make sure you’re all set for the year, please submit your request by January 11, 2016. You’ll enjoy that status through March 2017.

All you need is something that shows your elite tier in another program and an HHonors number.

Email us at HHonorMyStatus@hilton.com and we’ll help get you started.
Please note it may take a couple of days to process given the Thanksgiving holiday. We promise to process requests as quickly as possible and any request submitted prior to January 11, 2016, will be processed in time to enjoy your new status for the entire year.

Here is how I assume Hilton will match based on your status at another chain:

  • Hilton Gold = SPG Gold, Marriott Gold, Ritz-Carlton Gold, Hyatt Platinum, IHG Platinum Elite, Club Carlson Gold,
  • Hilton Diamond = SPG Platinum, Marriott Platinum, Ritz-Carlton Platinum, Hyatt Diamond, IHG Spire Elite, Club Carlson Concierge

So if you have mid or top tier status at another hotel chain, I highly recommend submitting a screen shot to HHonorMyStatus@hilton.com. While the representative stated that you have until January 11, 2016, I recommend doing it ASAP. While Hilton Gold status is typically easy to earn, it is one of the best mid-tier status levels out there. With Gold status you still get complimentary breakfast for you and one other guest in the room. Diamond status will give you club lounge access (if there is one) and a chance of an upgraded room. There are some other benefits which I’ll dedicate to another post as well.
