Hilton Status Match

Hilton is offering another status match opportunity, although it is not nearly as good as what they handed out to members last year. With this status match, Hilton will give you an instant match, but to maintain the status you’ll have to complete 4 (Gold) or 8 (Diamond) stays. Last year, no future stays were required, which was great, but I absolutely understand why Hilton would put in this requirement this time around.

The match will be based on what level of status you currently have at another program. The site does not state the corresponding status levels, but based on last year, I’d assume:

  • Hilton Gold = SPG Gold, Marriott Gold, Ritz-Carlton Gold, Hyatt Platinum, IHG Platinum Elite, Club Carlson Gold
  • Hilton Diamond = SPG Platinum, Marriott Platinum, Ritz-Carlton Platinum, Hyatt Diamond, IHG Spire Elite, Club Carlson Concierge

You’ll also need to show proof that you completed at least one stay at the matched hotel chain within the past 12 months.

It does not state when you must request this match by, but because there are requirements of staying at a Hilton hotel post-match, I suspect this match program will be around all year. If you have a Hilton stay coming up and currently do not have status, I suggest waiting until 2 weeks prior to your stay to request the status match. This will then allow you to have the matched status instantly for that stay, even if you do not have any Hilton stays coming up to maintain the status. IF, you are able to complete the required 4/8 stays, that status will be valid through March 31, 2019, which is awesome!

You can request your status match here.
