Hilton just rolled out a “Status Jumpstart” promotion, where stays between now and the end of the year will also count towards the stay requirement for next year! Before you get too too excited about this promotion though, it is targeted, so unfortunately you may not be eligible. You can check to see if you are eligible here.
For example, if you have 5 stays between now and December 2014, those 5 stays will count for your 2014 and 2015 requirements. The terms also suggest that only stays count and not nights.
To earn Hilton status, you need to meet one of the following requirements:
- Silver (lowest level status)
- Nights: 10
- Stays: 4
- Base Points: N/A
- Gold (mid-level status)
- Nights: 40
- Stays: 20
- Base Points: 75,000
- Diamond (top level status)
- Nights: 60
- Stays: 30
- Base Points: 120,000
You can learn more about Hilton status in this prior blog post.

While your existing account may not quallify it looks like you can sign up for a new account & enroll & register at the same time.
This could be a problem with not having status on the newly enrolled account but something to consider in certain scenarios.
Maybe you could change the HH# after check in to the newly enrolled account.
@anonymous – Thanks for sharing this!
Do awards stay count too?
@Al – I am not 100% sure. The terms do not specifically, but since award stays typically count towards status I would assume so.
I hit Diamond months ago…sadly, I’m not eligible =(
Wonder how you qualify for the promo?
