This is a quick reminder that you have only a few hours left to earn 2,000 bonus miles by shopping online. By no means should you shop for the purpose of earning miles, but if you are planning on doing some online shopping in the next few days, you might consider doing it tonight. Through end of day today (for American) and end of day tomorrow (for United), you can earn 1,000 bonus miles per airline by going through their shopping portal first to do your online shopping.
- United: Earn up to 1,000 points; expires February 14
- American Airlines: Earn up to 1,000 miles; expires February 13
To earn the maximum number of miles requires you to spend $250 with each portal, so if you have some big purchases tonight or tomorrow, I suggest seeing if you can maximize both portal bonuses to earn the 2,000 bonus miles for a total of $500 spend. This is a super easy way to earn miles for purchases you’d be making anyways. And remember, these bonuses are also in additional to the normal miles you’d receive by going through one of the online shopping portal sites first.
I also love how the portals show exactly where you are towards earning the bonus. I am personally $24 away from earning the full 1,000 bonus miles with American Airline and plan on making a purchase at Target this week anyways, so I might as well just do it tonight!
What is an online shopping portal?
I know for many people, the concept of an online shopping portal is extremely foreign. However, I want to ensure you that it is an extremely simple process and literally takes an extra minute to complete your shopping purchase. If you are not familiar with these portals, they are an online website that you go to first, search for the store, and then you are taken directly to the desired merchants website. You then continue to shop at that merchant the same exact was as if you went to the site first. Your purchase is tracked in the background and you’ll then earn points, miles, or cash back (depending on the site used) for your purchase. There is absolutely no reason not to earn these extra points/miles or free money!
